and what a lovely town that is. So we decided to head down the road to this place and take a hike in the hills where they make some lovely wine. Well – I actually don’t know that for sure, it is just a guess – so don’t take my word for it 😉
We parket the car at the bottom of the hill and took the walkway along the old town wall. Had to have a rest even though we only walked a couple of meters…
We brought friends with us and the other Retriever in the pictures is Jule – a 6 year old Goldie just as myself. She is a bit on the shy side, so I give her plenty of space and she pretty much keeps to herself. Only when there is treats to be had – she’ll appear out of the blue to take her place 😊 Anyhow – we went up into the hills and check out what they have there…
This is an old railway bridge that has never been finished. Work started around 1910 in order to shift minerals from the Ruhr area over to the Lothringen area in France. Guess you have to google it for the whole story. It is still an impressive monument and from what we could see it is used for climbing – hence the ropes that you can see in the pictures.
The view from the top of the hill is impressive even though we wouldn’t waste any time as treats were to be head. So we sat on the wall and waited for the boss to come over and hand them over 🙂
All in all it was a great day out, my joints giving me a bit of trouble and I am not up for those long walks anymore. Still it was great to be out there and discover new stuff. Believe me I was delighted when we made our way back to the car.
On the way back we took a walk through the little village of Ahrweiler and there wasn’t much going. The humans decided to stop briefly for a hot chocolate before heading back to the car. As I said I was glad to be back so I could have a well earned snooze on the way back. As always I leave you with some more images… Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy Nicolaus day tomorrow. Paws up from us 🐾 🐾
